I'm a NZer taken up residency in QLD how do i get a QLD driver's license?

I have now been here in QLD Australia for over 3 months, the qld transport website says that since july 2007, nzers don't have to sit the written test, it also says somewhere else on the site my nz lisence is invalid after 3 months so...what will i need to do to get the qld one, have any kiwis out there done this lately?
